Yun is a child of Skywise and an unknown Go-Back, conceived during the "dance" right before the Troll-Elf War. Like her father, the desire for quests seems to be in the blood. Yun's Go-Back half is evidenced by her impatience and temper, and a real a gift for imaginative profanity. Her rashness gets her in trouble, often leaving her unprepared, alone and an easy target for humans. An encounter with a WaveDancer in a pool near the rebel human camp, has left Yun wistful and unsure of the episode's reality. After a brief stay with Skywise, Yun joined Ember on her quest to rid the World of Two Moons of Winnowill's shapechanged creatures.
One night Krim was telling Yun about the Go-Back tradition of the "chief's walk", where Kahvi would take female tribe members out into the wilderness for several days. The chief would have an item that the others would have to try to take from her. Since none of them could defeat her in a fight, they would have to trick it from her. Krim was proud that she had stolen the item, Kahvi's spear, from her faster than almost anyone in history and when she heard that Yun hadn't been taken on a walk during her time with the Go-Backs she insisted that it happen now.
She arranged for Yun to challenge Ember and chose the tuftcat claw necklace that Teir had given Ember as the prize. Krim didn't realize the deep personal significance it had for the young chieftain and Ember was unwilling to share how deep it went. For several days the two young warriors played a game of cat and mouse in the wild until Ember dropped her guard while tending to her ailing wolf friend Choplicker and Yun took advantage of the lapse to take the prize.
Although publicly Ember took the loss gracefully, Yun later overheard her privately unburdening herself to Tyleet about how painful it really was. Yun felt guilty but simply returning the necklace would dishonour both of them, so she decided to play a trick on Krim. Yun obtained a set of claws from a tuftcat that she had temporarily disabled and made them into a replica necklace that she could wear while returning the original to Ember. Lacking the keen senses of a wolfrider, Krim wouldn't know the difference.
