Abode – also known as The World of Two Moons, the name of the planet where the events of Elfquest take place
Black Snake – nickname for the dark Elf Winnowill
Bond Birds – the huge avian mounts of the Gliders Chosen Eight hunters.
Chief’s lock – a hairstyle worn by the current chief of the Wolfriders, consisting of a small ponytail worn at the upper back of one’s head.
Cub – a nickname given to a child of the Wolfriders, either Elf or Wolf
Cub Moon – Wolfrider nickname for the smaller of the two moons of Abode
Den – a nickname given to the homes of the Wolfriders and their Wolf-friends. May or may not be a physical wolf den.
Den Hide – a command given by the current chief of the Wolfriders that all tribe members should take cover and not venture out until further notice. Often given in response to active efforts to find them by humans.
Dreamberries – a species of berries that have an intoxicating effect on Elves and Trolls
Elves – One of three main races of Abode
Firstcomer – The distant alien ancestors of all Elves who came to Abode millennia before the events of Elfquest
High Ones – Another name for the Firstcomers, the first Elves
Gliders – One of the tribes of Elves of Abode
Go Backs – One of the tribes of Elves of Abode
Humans – One of three main races of Abode
Holt – The name given to the home of an Elven tribe
Howl - Aside from the call of a wolf, a name for a celebration held by the Wolfriders. Howls are usually held in honor of an individual, celebrating a great deed or remembering the life of one who has died.
Kitling – A nickname given to a Wolfrider child
Mother Moon – Wolfrider name for the larger of the two moons of Abode
Preserver - Small insectoid race that serves the Elves
"Puckernuts!" - A common expletive among Elves
Recognition – A psychic connection between two Elves who are compatible, creating a deep psychic connection as well as an overwhelming desire to mate and have a child. Though Recognition is not necessarily needed to reproduce, several tribes, including the Wolfriders, consider it ideal.
Sending - an Elven magical power allowing telepathic communication over distance
Skyfire – Elven term for lightning
Soul Name- A private name used by an individual Wolfrider. This creates a psychic barrier keeping the Elf's innermost "self" private during Sending. Soul names are involuntarily shared during recognition or may rarely be willingly shared by an individual.
Sun Folk – One of the tribes of Elves of Abode
Tribe Name – The public name that a Wolfrider is commonly known as, used to keep their Soul Name private.
Trolls – One of thee main races of Abode
Wavedancers - One of the tribes of Elves of Abode
Wolfriders - One of the tribes of Elves of Abode. The main focus tribe of Elfquest.
Wolf-friend – A wolf who is partnered with a Wolfrider Elf. A true bond is formed between the two, in a process similar to Recognition, allowing an emphatic link between the two.
World of Two Moons – Also known as Abode, the planet where Elfquest takes place.
Wrapstuff - The webbing produced by a Preserver. Preserves whatever it is wrapped in exactly as it was when the object or individual was when the wrapping took place. Living things are put in a kind of stasis, though sending may be communicated
