Acorn was one of two male Lovemates of Goodtree, the other being Lionleaper. Though Lionleaper was jealous of Acorn’s Songshaping powers and the connection it gave him to Goodtree, it was he who ultimately recognized her. The hard-won equilibrium between the three was upset however, Goodtree found gentleness in one and strength in the other. Torn between her desire not to hurt Acorn and the insistence of recognition, she fought the inevitable – as did Lionleaper – leaving it to Acorn himself to persuade the two to join and complete the union. Their union would result in the birth of Mantricker.
