I'm very hesitant to remove fields, but adding some seems like a fine idea. However, I think things like gender and hair colour, and nieces and nephews should stay in the infobox so readers can find it immediately. (Plus most infoboxes on most Wikis have those fields.) I don't think a picture is just enough for physical description, I think it should also be written in the infobox. Plus, the more info the better imo. As for the soulname suggestion, I agree.

Things like hair color and eye color are a bit subjective though. For example Strongbow's hair is described as brown right now but arguably it can be called auburn or even red. Similarly, I've seen moonshade eyes been either purple or brown. And how precise do you want to be: is Cutter's hair just blonde or perhaps platina blonde or white blonde? It certainly is a different color than Dewshine's etc. Also as of now, these fields aren't often used.

As for these familial relationships it can be included but I just noticed that these fields are just neglected even when there are known nephews/nieces/uncles/aunts so that's why I figured it might be better to remove as it's not that essential.

On another note I don't think there's a thing for wavedancers yet, like there is for sun folk and wolfriders when you fill in 'nation', so I would like to see that option added.

Good points. There's a code I use for showing the actual colours in a small box in the infobox, perhaps adding that here would be helpful? Look at the Danny Phantom Wiki if you want to see what I mean since that's where I got the code from.

Then it just needs to be filled in.

I'm not sure if there is a colour for them yet, so yes, it would need to be made.

Also Cutter's hair is currently listed as pale blond, not just blonde like Dewshine is listed as.

I don't think the Danny Phantom solution would be helpful, since Danny Phantom is a show with very clear and consistent colors while ElfQuest just isn't.

I noticed more problems as I was making more pages for characters that didn't have one:

• characters that don't belong to one of the four tribes (like Jink, Satreeka) I'm unable to assign a race for. Filling in the field doesn't override it getting left empty. I've looked at the code for the infobox but honestly I have no idea how to change it without possibly messing it up, is there someone who does?

• Because race is defaulted when you assign a tribe (and cannot be overridden), it is not possible to put "half-elf, half-troll" on Two-Edge and instead he's listed as "troll", similar case for Timmorn who is "elf" instead of "half-wolf, half-elf".

I see 'spouses' and 'romances' are used for trolls so contrarily what I first said it seems to have a function, however I do wonder why we don't just have two infobox templates for trolls and elves seperately... Would be a bit more user-friendly but oh well.

The boxes would be used for exact colours (that being the most consistent ones) directly from the comic books. In a Trivia or a Physical Appearance section we could list all colours and colouring mistakes or just have an additional box in the infobox for that (like a "sometimes appears as" box).

I can, but maybe not right away as I'm on mobile, it depends on how much time it would take. What was your idea for a solution exactly?

I guess the easiest solution would be to not let the field for 'race' get autofilled and allow for them to be filled in manually. It would mean that we need to go through many character pages and add it again but I could do that eventually. Same for soulname, instead of it defaulting to "unrevealed" when it's not filled in, it should be left out and the few characters that do have a soulname but we don't know what it is we can fill in "unrevealed" manually.

Specific colors for tribes is nice but the autofill becomes unhandy when some characters have switched tribes (Skot and Krim for example) or have none at all. I would remove the auto-fill there as well (and go through every character page to add it manually) and make it manually. Maybe leave the colors but seperate the tribe auto-fill from the 'nation' field (and add some colors for nations like wavedancer, firstborn, unknown (like Dre-Ahn), whatever color we should give Satreeka/Jink? are they first-gen starhomers or something?)

I don't know if there is a more elegant solution for this since I'm not really knowledge-able about template coding and such.

Oh and add fields for titles/aliases and for recognized if you have time.

Edit: one other thing that just struck me, when I add wolf-friends of Jackwolf riders of the Sun Folk to 'animal' the field doesn't have a name (see Dodia for example). Since this only concerns jackwolf riders from the sunfolk I think we can just do the same for the sunfolk like we did for wolfriders.

Good ideas, I need to convert our Infoboxes to Portable Infoboxes (PIs) soon, but I need to speak with the Avatar Wiki Admins for that first since that's where our current Infobox code came from. When I convert to PIs I'll make sure I re-read this Thread and alert you so you can give suggestions and also possibly learn the coding yourself as well so you can also give a hand if you wish to. I'll be converting another Wiki of mine's Infoboxes to the Avatar Wiki's PIs first to test them out, then I'll do this Wiki, but it may take a while since I'm on mobile, have irl and other Wiki stuff going on and it's New Years. TBH the Infoboxes on mobile are a mess right now, so converting them needs to be done soon.
